30 Days to Financial Freedom Screen Test

Thanks for reviewing these early tests for my online course, 30 Days to Financial Freedom!

Each day of the course will feature three videos: a devotional study, a practical study, and a hands-on demo of the budget tool.

Below are sample videos for Day 2. If you have feedback or ideas, I’d love to hear them — you can respond in the comments at the bottom of the page, or shoot me a text or email. Thanks!

This makes me so happy! I love it! Covers everything to get started. I like that you’re starting with just income on the third video and that you include government benefits as an option of income. I don’t know if I’ve seen that in others budgets but for single mom’s who may get child support that would be helpful to see in a budget for kids. I like your video breakdowns and the length of them. It’s short enough and to the point.

I think this is great! I like the audio selection for beginning and end. Have you considered providing fill in the blank notes that the user can print out and go through with you (kind of like TPC messages)? I think the flow and the lengths are awesome! I like the blue boxes with the content at the bottom.

One thought, and it could just be my personality, but be careful to not over present. You’re a great communicator, but sometimes it’s easy for people who are really good to lose the heartfeltness, or the “realness” that will keep people feeling like you really care and are just like them. Again, could just be that I know you and that I have a particular style, so just a thought.

Awesome job! I’m excited for what you’re doing. I like the content, structure and the music. I especially like the siren sound effect, it increases the sense of urgency about your topic! You have good energy that will keep people engaged.

Do the participants have a printed guide to follow along with the course and main points? Or even a fillable PDF would work.

Regarding on-screen text: I like the transparent box because it doesn’t feel like it squeezes you in the frame like the opaque one does. If you could increase the text contrast in the transparent box I think it would be a little better. Or would it be weird to move you over to the left 1/3 of the screen and have the text next to you? I’ve seen a lot of interviews in this style, not sure if it works as well for teaching?
Since you move kind of quickly through the points in the second video it may be helpful to leave your main points up on screen a little longer while you discuss.

Day 3: I really like the idea that you are walking people through the tool. There’s a good possibility that I would have your tutorial up while also using the Budget tool, if this is the case, the info that you are filling in on the tutorial seems difficult to see (too small). Could you zoom in on just the pertinent areas of the Tool while you are demonstrating, in order to see it better?

I like what you’re doing and keep it up!

Thanks, Dave! Yes, the siren is my favorite part!

There will be a digital course booklet with fill-in-the-blank notes. I also like the transparent boxes better… I thought of that idea after I had already made about half of them opaque, and I was too lazy to go back and redo them. 😉

Great idea about zooming in on the relevant info of the spreadsheet tutorials. I’m not sure I have the video skills to do that myself, but whoever I hire to do the actual products probably will.

      I appreciate the input!
